Odin 3 Portal launch day: prices, which model to pick, and where to pre-order

Everything you need for tonight's AYN Odin 3 Portal pre-order launch, in one place. Pre-orders open Thursday, October 22 at 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET) on AYN's official store. The info here comes from AYN and published reports. Nobody at Overclocked has used a Portal yet, and no reviews or battery tests have been published.

Prices at launch

• Base 12GB/128GB: $399 early bird (regular $419), per AYN's product page
• Pro 12GB/256GB: $479 (regular $499), press-sourced from Retro Handhelds and Android Authority
• Max 16GB/512GB: $549 (regular $579), press-sourced from Retro Handhelds and Android Authority
• Max 16GB/1TB: $669, a new fourth model AYN added today. Read about the Portal Max 1TB and accessories

AYN hasn't confirmed the Pro and Max regular prices on its own page yet; those come from press reports. The Base is reported to come in black only, and AYN hasn't confirmed color options for the other models.

Which one should you get?

• Base, $399: best if you mostly play retro games and lighter emulation, with your games on a microSD card.
• Pro, $479: more room for big PS2, Switch and PC-via-emulator games, plus Android titles.
• Max, $549: only if you want 16GB of RAM and 512GB built in.
• Max 1TB, $669: only if you'll fill a lot of fast internal storage with big PC games.

This is our guidance, not AYN's.
