AYN Odin 3 Portal goes up for pre-order October 22 from $399, with Snapdragon 8 Elite-class power and a 7-inch OLED
A week after the first teaser, AYN has put numbers on the Odin 3 Portal. The follow-up to the Odin 2 Portal goes up for pre-order on Thursday, October 22 at 6:30 PM PT (9:30 PM ET, which is the early hours of October 23 in Europe), and the cheapest model costs $399 while the launch discount lasts. According to Time Extension, shipping should start in early November.

- Base: 12GB RAM, 128GB storage, $399 at launch (list price $419)

- Max: 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, $549 (list $579)

- Battery: 9,000mAh with 60W wired charging
- Controls: full-size Hall-effect sticks with textured edges, redesigned grips and rear paddle buttons. AYN's teaser only names Hall sensors for the sticks, not the triggers.

- Software and weight: Android 15, about 450g
One detail differs between reports. Android Authority, citing AYN's Discord, gives the launch day as October 23, while Time Extension's update and Retro Game Corps both give 9:30 PM ET on October 22. That's most likely the same moment counted in Asian time, so if you want a launch-batch unit, plan for Thursday evening in US time zones.
Why it matters for handheld players
The Dragonwing Q8 is the fastest chip you can get in an Android handheld right now. It handles Switch emulation in Eden, PS2 in NetherSX2 and ARMSX2, and the newer PS3 and Xbox 360 projects on Android better than anything else. The Portal pairs it with a bigger OLED and a larger battery than the Odin 3's, at about 60g more. If you've been choosing between the two, the Portal is the screen-and-battery upgrade, not a faster device. Prices have been climbing across the market as memory costs rise, so a $399 entry price for this chip is competitive. Owners of the Odin 3 can already use our GPU driver hub and compatibility reports. Both apply to the Portal too, since it has the same Adreno 830.
How to order
Pre-orders go live on AYN's own store at ayntec.com/products/odin3-portal, which already lists the $399 Base, $479 Pro and $549 Max at their early-bird prices (regular $419, $499 and $579). Buy only from the official store, not resellers listing it early. On the store, the Base model is only offered in black.
