Xendroid+ setup guide: Xbox 360 emulation on Android handhelds
How to download and set up Xendroid+ (Xendroid Plus), the Xbox 360 emulator for Android: requirements, games folder, Turnip driver, best settings and fixes.
Xendroid+, XenDroid
Xendroid+ (often searched as "Xendroid Plus") is a free, open-source Xbox 360 emulator for Android by developer phforner0. It continues XenDroid, rfandango's Android port of the Xenia emulator, with a redesigned interface for phones, tablets and controllers, automatic per-game settings and a lot of speed work aimed at Snapdragon chips. This guide takes you from download to your first game, with the settings our owner actually uses.
Experimental software. The project itself says how a game runs depends on the game, the device and the GPU driver: some titles run well, others glitch or don't boot. There's no official compatibility list yet.
Quick facts
- Latest stable: 0.1.0 (October 19, 2026). Preview builds of 0.2.0 follow every merged change (0.2.0-preview.108 on October 20 at the time of writing).
- Price and license: free, open source under AGPL-3.0.
- Needs: Android 10 or newer on a 64-bit ARM (arm64-v8a) device, and a Vulkan GPU. Adreno 7xx and 8xx with the Turnip driver are the main target, and the developer recommends a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer.
- Games: your own Xbox 360 games, dumped from discs or a console you own: ISO disc images, ZAR archives or Games on Demand (GOD) packages. Xendroid+ includes no games, and Overclocked doesn't host or link game files.
Which handhelds can run it?
- Snapdragon 8 Elite / Dragonwing Q8 (Adreno 830): AYN Odin 3 and Odin 3 Portal. The strongest option, and the one we've tested (see below).
- Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (Adreno 740): Retroid Pocket 6, AYN Thor (not the Lite), Odin 2. This is the developer's recommended minimum.
- Snapdragon 865 and midrange chips: they meet the basic requirements, but expect far fewer playable games. Keep your expectations low on a Retroid Pocket 5 or Retroid Pocket Duo.
- Mali (MediaTek/Unisoc) handhelds: Turnip drivers don't apply, and Adreno is the project's target. We haven't seen reliable reports yet.
Step-by-step setup
- Download from the official page only. Get the APK from the Xendroid+ GitHub releases (or the project site). Each release lists the file's SHA-256 so you can check the download. Pick the newest release not marked Pre-release if you want the stable build.
- Install it. Allow installs from your browser or file manager when Android asks.
- Follow the first-run assistant. Pick your games folder, or let Xendroid+ create one along with folders for title updates and DLC. Choosing a folder needs Android 11 or newer.
- Copy in your own games (ISO, ZAR or GOD) and let the library scan them. Install title updates and DLC you own from the app's content tools.
- Set a GPU driver. Xendroid+ has a driver manager for Adreno/Turnip drivers, global or per game, and it checks each package's SHA-256. On Adreno 8xx use a Gen8 build such as Turnip Gen8 V38; on 7xx try a current Turnip and the system driver. See which Turnip file to pick.
- Pick the interface. In the app's settings under Interface you can switch between controller mode (a game carousel with button prompts) and touch mode (a sidebar and game grid). Christopher (Owner) prefers touch mode even with a controller.
- Boot a game, then open the in-game menu from the touch handle, Back/Guide or the shoulder buttons to reach graphics, HUD, controls and session settings.
Settings that matter
- Per-game settings load automatically for games that need them (the project lists Forza Horizon 1 and 2, Gears of War 3, Crysis 3, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Rise of the Tomb Raider, among others). Leave them alone at first.
- Frame-rate limit: set per game, unlimited or 30 to 120 fps. Many Xbox 360 games are capped at 30 by design.
- Scaling and sharpening: output scaling includes FSR and Snapdragon Game Super Resolution.
- Performance HUD: shows FPS, frame time, CPU, GPU, RAM and temperatures. Turn it on while testing.
- Frame generation (experimental, off by default): Win-FG, or LSFG with your own
Lossless.dllfrom a copy of Lossless Scaling you bought, shows a 30 fps game at 60 on screen. See our frame generation guide for the trade-offs. - Expect stutter on first play: shaders are compiled in the background and kept in a persistent pipeline cache, so the second run is smoother.
What our owner gets on the Odin 3 Pro
Christopher (Owner) plays Xendroid+ daily on his AYN Odin 3 Pro (12 GB RAM). His settings: 1080p, FSR maxed, FXAA Extreme, the Turnip Gen8 V38 driver and a large CPU underclock in ClusterTune. Nothing else changed.
- Crackdown and Crackdown 2: 60 fps with Lossless Scaling frame generation, no hitches.
- Fable II: about 30 fps with dips to 26, playable, but with a blue tint on some buildings and a glitchy dog (the same on Turnip V38 and Mainline V32).
- Midnight Club: Los Angeles: 20 to 22 fps, sometimes 30.
- Medal of Honor (2010): froze before the main menu until he turned Force maximum GPU clock on (it's off by default) and V-Sync off. After that, about 48 fps, around 90 with frame generation, running at 59 to 60 °C.
Full write-up: Xendroid+ is now my daily driver. Developer-measured numbers for Gears of War 3, Crysis 3, Halo 4 and more are in our Xendroid+ first look.
Quick fixes
- Game freezes before the menu or runs very slowly: try Force maximum GPU clock and turn V-Sync off for that game, then switch the GPU driver.
- Graphics glitches: try another Turnip build or the system driver per game. Some bugs (like Fable II's tint) stay whatever the driver.
- Low fps right after launching: that's often pipelines being built. Xendroid+ can show a low-fps notice with suggestions when you exit a game.
- Runs hot or drains fast: cap the frame rate, lower the resolution or underclock with ClusterTune. See heat and battery fixes.
- Game won't appear: check it's an ISO, ZAR or GOD dump inside the folder you picked, then rescan.

FAQ
How do I install a Turnip GPU driver in Xendroid+?
Open Drivers (sidebar on the touch layout, Menu button on the controller layout), choose Installed, then Import ZIP. The driver is selected automatically. Screenshots for both layouts.
Where do I download Xendroid+?
Only from the official Xendroid+ GitHub releases page (github.com/phforner0/Xendroid-Plus/releases) or the project site. Each release lists a SHA-256 for the APK. The latest stable release is 0.1.0 from October 19, 2026, and preview builds of 0.2.0 follow every change.
Is Xendroid+ the same as XenDroid?
No. Xendroid+ is a fork by phforner0 that continues XenDroid, rfandango's Android port of the Xenia Xbox 360 emulator. It adds a new interface, automatic per-game settings, a driver manager, a performance HUD and speed work for Snapdragon and Turnip.
What do I need to run Xendroid+?
Android 10 or newer on a 64-bit ARM device with a Vulkan GPU, plus your own Xbox 360 games as ISO, ZAR or Games on Demand dumps. The developer recommends a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or newer, with Adreno 7xx and 8xx GPUs on Turnip as the main target.
What is the best GPU driver for Xendroid+?
On Adreno 8xx handhelds such as the AYN Odin 3, use a Turnip Gen8 build; Christopher (Owner) uses Turnip Gen8 V38. On Adreno 7xx, compare a current Turnip with the system driver. Xendroid+ can set a driver globally or per game.
Which Xbox 360 games work on Xendroid+?
There's no official compatibility list yet. The developer reports Gears of War 3, Crysis 3 and Forza Horizon at their 30 fps caps on a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 phone, and on an Odin 3 Pro our owner runs Crackdown 1 and 2 at 60 fps with frame generation, Fable II with some graphics bugs and Medal of Honor (2010) at about 48 fps.
How do I get 60 fps in Xendroid+?
Most Xbox 360 games are capped at 30 fps. Xendroid+ has experimental frame generation (Win-FG, or LSFG with your own Lossless.dll) that shows a 30 fps game at 60 on screen. It's off by default and works best when the base frame rate is steady.
My game freezes before the main menu. What can I try?
Turn on Force maximum GPU clock and turn off V-Sync for that game, then try another GPU driver. That combination got Medal of Honor (2010) running at about 48 fps on our owner's Odin 3 Pro after it froze before the menu.
Does Xendroid+ include games or keys?
No. The project includes no games, disc images, firmware, system files or keys, and asks you to use only backups of games you own, dumped from hardware you own.
