faux123 Turnip v1.2.7 adds Adreno 710/720 support and stops large command-buffer batches from hanging the GPU
What v1.2.7 fixes
When an app handed the driver thousands of command buffers in one submit, the driver could report the GPU lost or stop responding. FauxVkTest 1.25's stress.many_command_buffers_one_submit (4,096 buffers) caught it. v1.2.7 now sends such batches in pieces of 256; smaller batches behave exactly as before. Across 94 FauxVkTest checks, that was the only result that changed versus v1.2.6 on the S23, S22, S21+ and S20+.
What stayed the same
- Adreno chips that already worked on v1.2.5 keep the same per-chip settings through v1.2.6 and v1.2.7 (byte-for-byte for those entries in 1.2.6).
- 710 / 720 support is untested by the developer (no device on hand). Reports via FauxVkTest / FauxVkDB or GitHub issues are requested.
- Devices rechecked for regressions include the Retroid Pocket Duo (Adreno 722), AYN Odin 3 (Adreno 830) and several Galaxy phones. Sample-scene frame times matched the prior build within normal noise; a short Duo check of Giana Sisters, Streets of Rage 4 and NieR:Automata held 60 fps on title/menu screens.
How to install
Download turnip_faux123_v1.2.7.adpkg.zip from the v1.2.7 release and import it in your app's AdrenoTools driver picker without unzipping. Keep a known-good driver as a fallback. Find faux123 alongside other Turnip packages on our GPU drivers page after today's refresh.
