Metroid Prime port 0.36.0 brings Remastered-style fog, X-ray and frozen-enemy effects to the native Android build
The native Metroid Prime port keeps moving fast. Version 0.36.0 landed on October 29, the same week its maker Odrannnn shipped Echoes Unbound for Metroid Prime 2. It's built from the PrimeDecomp decompilation, so it runs natively with no GameCube emulator, and there's an arm64 APK for Android 9 and up alongside Windows, Linux, macOS and iOS builds.
More Metroid Prime Remastered looks
- Room triggers switch fog and color grading the way the Switch Remastered version does, including the Frigate's fog.
- The X-ray visor now draws the room geometry.
- Chozo Lore sheets use Remastered's shader, and frozen enemies get the icy shell.
- Cutscenes use Remastered's suit models with face and visor glass.
- Glows, sprites and particles follow the frame's exposure, so they no longer flash or dim at random.
- A new setting turns off the Phazon Suit aura, and you can choose which parts of an installed import load.
Controls and fixes
You can save your own button-mapping presets, rebinding a trigger records a single input, map rotation can be inverted, and button prompts are drawn twice as large. Fixes make skipping the Frigate cutscene properly take away Samus's items, and cover the options menu at high frame rates, beam spam eating the room's object slots, safer save writes and lower audio latency. The third-person camera is improved too.
