DroidDeck 0.6.0 adds Xbox and PC Game Pass, an itch.io store, Remote Play video and touch gestures
New stores: Xbox / PC Game Pass and itch.io
- Xbox and PC Game Pass (experimental): sign in with your Microsoft account to see games you own and Game Pass titles, then download them with pause and resume, updates, verify and add-on management. Games launch through Proton or FEX from the Games tab or from Steam.
- itch.io: sign in with your itch.io API key to see your library, or browse the newest, on-sale, free and top-rated shelves. DRM-free Windows builds install and launch through Steam like the other stores.
- Redesigned store pages with Library and Store tabs, a portrait capsule view, LB/RB to switch stores, a Play button for installed games, and store tabs you can reorder or hide.
Other new features
- Steam Remote Play from DroidDeck now streams video, captured through PipeWire and encoded by the phone's hardware encoder. On an AYN Thor that's 7.3–8.0 ms per frame, down from 50–90 ms with software encoding.
- Touchscreen gestures: taps, double taps, holds, one-, two- and three-finger drags and pinch zoom, each mappable to an action, with per-game overrides.
- Boot movies from SteamDeckRepo, a performance HUD frame-time graph and battery temperature, and a custom Gradient theme.
- SteamVR controller types (Index, Quest 3 Touch Plus, Vive wands or gamepad), plus Rokid Max and Air glasses and experimental VITURE Pro 2 head tracking.
- Easy Anti-Cheat games with an offline mode now start (online modes that need EAC still don't).
- The built-in controller can be turned off so an external pad becomes player 1, nightly DXVK, VKD3D-Proton and FEX builds in the component manager, Decky Loader from the upstream release, per-game language choice for GOG and Epic installs, and uninstalling games right from the Games tab.
Faster and lighter
- Games use Turnip's tile rendering on Adreno: in PEAK on an Adreno 840 tablet, the frame rate rose 11.7%, and Steam is ready 35.9% sooner after a session starts.
- Faster launches (Moonlighter went from 10.5 s to 7.7 s) and much faster SD card libraries.
- Less overhead from the performance overlay, a more responsive Steam client, and a GOG tab that opens in seconds.
- The APK shrank from 124.4 MB to 66.4 MB.
- Better battery life while suspended, zRAM always on, and sessions on an external display or DeX keep running with the phone's screen off.
- GPU driver defaults now come from a manifest, the Snapdragon SM8975 is recognized, Adreno 850 support is marked experimental, and a trial driver that crashes at startup rolls back automatically.
Fixes
The release also fixes Ubisoft games stopping with "Error at hooking API", controllers in Rewired (Unity) games, Linux games under FEX, garbled CJK text in Steam, flicker on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Samsung devices, a GPU load reading of 0% in the overlay, missing GOG registry entries and cloud saves on a store game's first launch, and many touch, controller and file manager bugs. The full list is in the official release notes.
Where to get it
DroidDeck is only distributed through its GitHub releases, and the project says it has no stand-alone website, so ignore other "DroidDeck" download sites. Grab DroidDeck-0.6.0.apk from the official 0.6.0 release, or find the link on our emulators hub. As always, play games you own. If you test it on your device, submit a report so other owners can copy your settings.
