MOTHER 3 Recomp 1.0.8 brings 240 Hz smooth motion, save imports and RetroAchievements on Android

2026-10-28 · By Overclocked Joe
MOTHER 3, the 2006 Game Boy Advance RPG that never left Japan officially, now runs as a native app on Android, Windows and Linux. MOTHER 3 Recomp from josiahg2502-glitch is a static recompilation built with gbarecomp and recomp-ui, and v1.0.8 landed on October 28.

How it works

This isn't an emulator. The game's code is translated ahead of time into native code and wrapped in its own app. There's one Android APK covering ARM64 and x86_64 devices, plus Windows and Linux/Steam Deck builds.

Features

What's new in 1.0.8

The previous release, v1.0.7 on October 18, was the big one: it added the launcher, widescreen, 120 fps smooth motion and a rebuilt Android version.

What you need

Your own MOTHER 3 ROM and a GBA BIOS, which the app asks for on first launch. Use the English v1.3 fan translation, or the Japanese ROM plus a translation patch, which the launcher applies for you. Nothing from the game ships with the download, and Overclocked doesn't host or link game files.

The developer says Android performance on specific devices is still being looked into. Download it from the project's GitHub releases. MOTHER 3 Recomp is now in the Overclocked ports directory, along with three other new ports: NFS III: Hot Pursuit for Android, a playable preview of Transformers: The Game Recompiled and a SpongeBob SquarePants Movie recomp for PC.
