OVERARMSX3 1.6.2 brings music and video to XMB Mode
ARMSX3 1.6.2 is out for Android, released November 3, 2026, and it turns XMB Mode into a proper media center. XMB Mode itself arrived in 1.6 (see our earlier coverage of the PS3-style home screen), and this update builds the music and video side on top of it.Music
- The Music column is now a full music player: albums under their covers, songs that play on through their album, and a Now Playing view with the console's own controls (previous, pause, next, stop, repeat, shuffle and volume).
- Now Playing gets the PS3's visualizers, drawn from your own firmware: Waves, Valley, Gaia and Lines. Square goes full screen, Left and Right switch between them, and the right stick or a swipe changes Valley's preset or Gaia's flight.
- Add Folder plays songs where they already sit, on your device or a drive. Import Album takes a folder or a .zip, cover included.
- Set your own album covers with Change Cover, and switch back with Original Cover.
- ALAC, AIFF and WMA now play alongside MP3, AAC, FLAC, Ogg, Opus and WAV.
- A game's music preview no longer stops your own music.
Video
- A new Video column, like the console's, lists videos from ARMSX3's video folder, folders you add, and USB drives and SD cards, each with a thumbnail and length. Leaving a video keeps your place.
- Supported formats: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, 3GP, TS, M2TS, MPG, VOB and AVI. Your device's decoder handles what it can, 4K included, and ARMSX3's own decoder covers the rest, such as DivX, Xvid, MPEG-1/2 and AC3, DTS or MP2 audio.
- The console's Screen Modes (Normal, Full Screen, Zoom, Original) and per-video aspect ratio are in, and you can even run videos through RetroArch shader presets, CRT masks and all.
Everything else
- XMB Mode has its own file browser for every import (GitHub build), opening in your Download folder with access to internal storage, SD cards and drives.
- You can paste text in XMB Mode, and Select pastes on a controller.
- Faster SPU code checks on ARM, by Whatcookie.
- An APK re-upload added an upstream fix by digant73: saving in God of War III and Cars Race-O-Rama now works with a full save list.
- A fix for a rare crash on startup in XMB Mode, and a launcher icon that fills your launcher's shape.
How to get it
1.6.2 is on the GitHub releases page in four APKs: Android 11, 13 and 15 builds for armv8.2, plus a legacy armv8.1 build. Pick the one that matches your device. You must own the game: you need your own PS3 firmware and your own legally dumped games, and XMB Mode reads its icons, fonts and visualizers from your firmware. Overclocked doesn't host or link game files. We haven't tested 1.6.2 ourselves yet.
