ARMSX3 1.4 Brings Back Arkham Origins Multiplayer
How multiplayer works
The emulator automatically configures Arkham Origins to connect to KiwifruitDev's community-run Arkham: Revived servers through RPCN, the alternative network service used for PS3 emulation. From there, players get quick matches, friend invitations, and lobby joining. If you switch away from the emulator while waiting in a lobby, ARMSX3 pauses the game, keeps the session alive with a “Staying online” notification, and signs you back in automatically if the connection drops. An optional patch lets private matches start with fewer than the usual three players — only the host needs it enabled, and public lobbies are unaffected.
There are limits worth knowing: you need Arkham Origins updated to version 1.06, an RPCN account, and the right network settings (RPCN turned on, plus UPnP or UDP port 3658 forwarded) — and you'll only meet other players on RPCN. Original PS3 consoles and the PC Steam version cannot join.
What else is new
Beyond multiplayer, 1.4 adds virtual toy portals for Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and LEGO Dimensions, microphone support for games like SingStar, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero, and a new RPCN page with avatars, avatar packs, and favorites. It also fixes a freeze in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, gets J-Stars Victory VS+ battles and special attacks working, and runs Tales of Graces f battles at 60 fps, alongside the latest fixes pulled in from RPCS3. ARMSX3 is listed in the Overclocked emulator directory, and you can share how your games run in the compatibility database.
It's a big step for PS3 emulation on phones: multiplayer returning to a game whose servers died in 2016 shows how far community infrastructure has come. One caveat for Google Play users: the developers say the Play Store build of 1.4 may take longer to be approved because of the new microphone and persistent-connection permissions, so GitHub is the place to grab it first.
