Retroid Pocket Duo: two OLED screens that fold shut
The Pocket Duo is Retroid's first dual-screen handheld. It folds like a Nintendo 3DS, runs Android 16, and has two 120Hz OLED screens. Retroid started shipping it on Oct 21, 2026.
At a glance
- *Code DUO takes $20 off at goretroid.com through Oct 31, 2026.
- Don't mix it up with the cheaper Duo Lite and Duo Lite Plus, which have LCD screens.
Who it's for
- Great fit: DS and 3DS fans, retro games up through PS2 and GameCube, and anyone who wants a game on one screen and a guide or video on the other.
- Not the best fit: Switch emulation and PC games. Reviewers call Switch "experimental" here. If those are your priority, look at stronger devices like the AYN Thor or Odin 3.

First setup
Follow our Android handheld setup guide: install system updates first, set up your microSD card, then add emulators. On the Duo, try putting a front end or emulator on the top screen and a guide or YouTube on the bottom.
GPU drivers
Many emulators let you load a custom "Turnip" GPU driver, which can fix glitches or boost speed. The Duo's Adreno 722 isn't officially listed by the main Turnip project, so regular Turnip builds may not load. Our GPU drivers guide: Adreno 710 / 720 / 722 lists builds made for these chips:
- Vauzi-17 Turnip for Adreno 710/720/722 (start here): v4.3 is the current regular release. v4.4-exp is experimental. If a game is unstable, the maintainer suggests
TU_DEBUG=sysmem. - Banners-Turnip: frequent test builds. The file names say Adreno 710/720 and don't mention 722, so treat these as test builds.
- Mr. Purple's T30 Turnip: reviewer Gardiner Bryant reports good Switch results in Eden with it.
These are made by volunteers, not Retroid or Qualcomm, and we haven't tested them on a Duo yet. Only download them from the links in our guide, which go to the official GitHub pages. Change one thing at a time. If something breaks, switch back to the built-in system driver. If a driver works for you, please share it in the compat DB.
What to expect (from early reviews)
- DS: smooth, even at 4× resolution, with no visible lag between screens (Retro Game Corps).
- 3DS: most games run at 4×. Heavier ones like Metroid: Samus Returns need 3×, and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate needs 2× (Retro Game Corps).
- PS2 and GameCube: usually fine at 2×. Metal Gear Solid 2 ran at 3× in ARMSX2 (Gardiner Bryant), but God of War II struggles (Retro Game Corps).
- Switch: experimental. Hades and Metroid Dread ran around 35 to 40 fps with tweaks in Eden (Gardiner Bryant). Many bigger games won't run well.
- Power: in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme it scored 1,721, compared with 1,332 for Snapdragon 865 devices and 3,723 for the AYN Thor (Retro Game Corps).
We haven't tested battery life ourselves and haven't seen a reliable figure yet. Reviewers note the stacked shoulder buttons and short-travel sticks take some getting used to.
